The rub is that, had I been told about these restrictions ahead of time, I could have made an informed decision and probably would have still signed up for membership (albeit at a different membership level). Now though, I have a useless membership that's a pain to cancel (more on that below).
However, after making my decision a few days later, I called back and was told that I either needed to show up while the manager is there (which I was told was 9a to 3p - in the middle of the day while I'm working) or I can go down to the post office and send certified mail cancelling my membership. Either way, it's an absurd amount of effort for someone to go through when the business has clearly failed them (otherwise, why would you cancel your membership). The poor management seems to be a consistent theme in negative reviews of this location.
I like fact that their equipments are new and the machines work. It's usually less crowded in the morning just the way I like it. Crunch is a good gym to try out.

The previous comments are real. They are a scam. They say they do not charge for canceling same charge! I very clearly asked the girl when I enrolled in September that I would move in December that will cancel the membership in December and ask how much would the cost be if I cancel the menbresia. she answered if it is in December nothing because it has been 2 months since she signed up. Now try to cancel the subscription and inform me that I must pay $ 70. please I only went for a week and I paid without going for 2 months. I called to cancel and they told me I had to go personally. I went and they told me that I had to pay 70 when I asked why I had to pay for canceling the menbresia if when I signed up they said that I would not have to pay anything and now you tell me that I have to pay and the only thing he said is: if you want to cancel you have to pay. I said then I do not want to cancel just pay the 10 dollars of the month of November and continue with the membership and he said he will not have to cancel or not and pay the 80 for everything. And I asked him why and he just told me again that he had to pay. I did not have time at that moment and I told him I would go back. Call then so someone will explain to me because I have to pay to cancel and the only thing he said is the same you want to cancel you have to pay and if you do not go to a collection agents trying to intimidate. if the only thing he asked for is an explanation of why they want to charge $ 70. then he told me he did not have time to be on the phone. a terrible headache. I do not recommend it. Do not believe if they tell you that they will not pay for canceling the same they will charge you as they say the other comments and also they are not able to apologize and say that they do not inform users just by getting hooked on their contract they lie saying they will not pay to cancel. I will return to cancel that scam and hope that at least they have the decency to say apologies and thanks for the gift of 100 dollars for 5 days of use of their poor business.
Let me be clear - I don't necessarily want to dissuade people from this location or business as much as make you informed before you sign up with them. The dishonesty is what has earned them the low rating.
I got this level of membership specifically because I knew I'd be moving in the near future. I only found out about this after going to my new place and literally walking in the door at one of the nearest Crunch gyms (none of which are "Essentials" locations) to be told I had to pay to get in per-visit. There also isn't any form of membership conversion - it's completely separate.

Ok place. The weights stick so be careful when you choose weight and see that it does not pull additional weights you are not prepared for. This gym does not allow guests if you are a peak plus member signed up at another location. One person ( he says he is the manager) is extremely rude. I go here only because it is so close to my home and there is another location close to my work.
I was originally not going to give this place such a low rating - when I called-in to confirm this concept of "Essentials" gyms with them, the person on the phone was very polite and empathetic to my situation. She even tried to find a gym nearby me that worked. When we couldn't find one, she was very polite and candid about how I might want to consider changing memberships and how that would involve canceling the one with them. I said that I wanted time to think about it and she noted my situation in my membership profile. Customer service at it's finest!
The Somerset Crunch is a lot higher quality, but it gets really crowded. North Brunswick has less options for weight lifters and performance athletes. Just as good for body builders. I might switch back to Somerset even though I'm a lot closer to North Brunswick.
On the subject of not being honest about fees - there's a $60+ "equipment maintenance fee" that they don't mention. It's applied 3 months into your membership, REGARDLESS of if you actually stay onboard for 3 months. Again - not outrageous, it's just one more thing they aren't upfront about until you're in the middle of signing the papers.
This location advertises a "Peak" membership that grants you access to multiple locations. What they don't tell you anywhere on their site (or at least anywhere that easily accessible) is that this only gives you access to "Essentials" locations. These "Essentials" gyms are franchised Crunch gyms and have a completely different membership system.
